Hey everyone,

Since, some of us are going back to college or school or even work, why not start off the coming back from vacation with a blog about the SHARK. SHARK stands for Supporting Highly Allergic Resilient Kids which was founded by a family by a mother who had a child that was severely allergic to peanuts.

Brief Story:

A loving mother who goes through a journey of severity of allergies. Since, her child Tristyn was born there was complications of development of pneumonia and later was diagnosed of asthma. She did an allergy test for her son since she her family has a history of allergies. She was surprised her son has developed peanut allergies but not overall surprised since it is common. She had to be with her son mostly 24/7 to see that he wouldn't come in contact with peanuts since his first reaction did almost cost his life. Since, at the time she did not know what was happening to her son. She took her son to the E.R because her son could not breathe an was developing a rash. Even though she tried to wash off the allergens with a bath and proceeded to give him an inhaler the symptoms still grew worse. That is when she found out her son had Anaphylaxis by what the E.R told her. From there she was given an Epi Pen Jr. (An Epi Pen Jr. is to subside the symptoms of Anaphylaxis until the person is reached to the hospital). She has been through events with her son by what has happened and hoping she would not go through it again. However her son is now going to school and the mother has developed the organization of the SHARK.

It can be scary not knowing when Anaphylaxis can hit a certain situation but it can be prevented by taking the precautions is what the SHARK is doing. The SHARK organization is to help spread the word in schools and the community about severity of allergies by what children might come in contact.

Though reading the labels, the ingredients, and watching out for what is out there that your severely allergic to can be lifesaving. Even though it may take just a few more moments of your time it is worth a life to save. If your severely allergic to peanuts or anything that you may be allergic too always take precautions.
